30 thousand mornings

The sudden death of Heath Ledger yesterday made me think of a passage from a book I read a good few years ago which felt somehow fitting today:

‘Apart from 30 thousand mornings,
life doesn’t belong to us.
We live like we’re going to be around forever
but we should be careful.
After all, not everybody gets the full
thirty thousand mornings - and there’s
no refund on any unused portion’.

Lots of love to little Matilda.

Very sad, wasn't it? So much potential lost. And such a lovely little girl left to never know her father. My heart goes out to her.

From all I read yesterday it seems he was probably taking all those meds to try to relax and get some sleep. It seems his craft may have been causing major anxiety. That's what I find so sad. That he probably wasn't messing around, just trying to feel better. At least he got the sleep and peace he craved in the end. That's the small plus I can take from it, that he's resting. I read a post on celebrity-babies.com about how he wanted to be around for Matilda forever, so his death has to be accidental for sure. It may be this is the naive bubble I live in but I like to think so.
